World Mental Health Day 2023

Today is World Mental Health Day.

It is a reminder to check in on your friends, especially your friends who are carers.

Perhaps you know someone who is caring for a husband after a stroke, a mum whose child is going through the diagnosis for autism, a son helping his Dad who is living with dementia, an aunty who is juggling the needs of a mum who has cancer and a child who has Down’s syndrome… these are just some of the challenges the people in your life may be living with.

It may not look like it but these things affect a person’s mental health. You may see us laughing in a crowd, joining in during a meeting, and chatty on our WhatsApp group. Still, take a moment to check in with that person.

If you’ve followed me on any of my social media channels, you’ll know I’ve experienced my own challenges with mental health and my wellbeing.

I would advise anyone struggling to take one step and talk to someone. That could be a trusted friend. It could be picking up the phone to one of the many mental health organisations out there. It could be speaking to your GP about support, therapy or medication.

For me, it was a combination of all of these things that helped me through my dark times.

If you are struggling today or any day for that matter, please take one step.

Talk. It really does help.

Take care,

Rebecca, TLC Coach
